Blessington Golfing Society Rules
- All Members are bound by the Constitution of Blessington Golfing Society
- Members are expected to familiarize themselves with the Rules of Golf
- Standards of integrity in the observance of the Rules of Golf will be expected and enforced. Penalties, up to and including suspension/expulsion from the Society, may be imposed by the Committee for breaches of the Rules of Golf.
- (a) On acceptance to membership, a member is allocated a handicap: GUI Club Members are automatically allocated their Club handicap, while non-GUI members are initially allocated a provisional handicap of not higher than 13.5, subject to review. (b) Past members are allocated the lower of their last BGS handicap or current GUI handicap if applicable, subject to review.
- Members must not, at any time, play off a handicap higher than their Club handicap, but may be allocated a lower mark (BGS handicap cuts are imposed in relation to prizes won.
- To be eligible to win a Member's prize, it is necessary to be a current paid-up member.
- To win either the Captain's or President's prize, it is necessary to have returned cards in at least two Singles outings in the previous twelve months.
- Members who fail to fulfill a tee time allocated to them by the Committee without giving adequate prior notice and/or a reason acceptable to the Committee will suffer a 2 point reduction to their next single's result
- Members who check in late, i.e. less than 15 minutes before their allocated tee time, without adequate prior notice and/or a reason acceptable to the Committee members in attendance at that outing will suffer a 1 point reduction to their score for that outing.
- Where a tee time has been allocated, this tee time can not be changed without permission from the Committee. Penalty will apply.
- Players who retire from their grouping during the course of a round without a reason acceptable to the Committee and to their playing partners will be subject to penalty.
- It is expected that 'Singles Matchplay' and 'Buddy Cup' matches will be played by the due dates.
- 'Singles Matchplay' and 'Buddy Cup' matches must be played within a 40 Km radius of Hennessys Lounge unless both sides agree to an alternative venue.
- To be eligible to win 1st prize on The Weekend Away it is necessary to stay in the Weekend Away Hotel venue (designated for that year).
