April 2024 Matchplay Rules

The committee has appointed a 2-person subcommittee to manage the singles and Doubles (Buddy Cup) match play competitions for 2024. The subcommittee members are Jonathan Hennessy & Tom Boyd.
Rules

  1. Notification of the entry and dates will be posted on the website.
  2. Only entries received by 10pm Sunday 7th of April will be valid.
  3. Pairings for the Doubles match play (Buddy Cup) may be pre-arranged by players themselves. Players who do not wish to pre-arrange a pairing may make individual entries which will then be drawn into pairings by the subcommittee before the draw.
  4. The draw will be conducted by at least 2 members of the subcommittee. The draw (and preliminary round if necessary) will be conducted within 3 days of the closing date for entry.
  5. The draw will be conducted by lot (open draw).
  6. Apart from the preliminary round, the winning person/team will proceed into the next round to play the winner of the next person/team in their section.
  7. The first drawn has choice of venue which must be within 50km of Hennessy’s Bar, unless otherwise agreed to by the second drawn. This applies to all rounds.
  8. All matches to be played by the dates stated. No exceptions. All dates are on the website draw sheet, apart from the final.
  9. When the match has being played it is the responsibility of the winner to inform the committee of the result.
  10. The person with the higher handicap will receive shots equal to the difference in handicaps, to be taken on the holes with the lowest index numbers.
  11. In match play the game is played by holes.
  12. Players play with the current society handicap on the day of the match.
  13. Players to play off Green(front) tee boxes.
  14. In the event of a tie after 18 holes, you continue from the 1st hole onwards until decided.
